SOAS students run campaign in south London promoting healthy relationships and providing support for victims of domestic violence

Team V is a national network of young people changing the world, one community actions project at a time! Over the course of the year Team V runs three campaigns run by a Team V leader and powered by young volunteers aged between 16 and 25.

Team V Peckham, led by SOAS student, Charles Brook, is currently running its second campaign of the year called ‘Love is….’

The campaign aims to raise awareness amongst young people about what a healthy relationship is and to challenge perceptions of perceived gender roles within a relationship and to provide young people with access to support services if they are suffering domestic abuse in their relationship.

81% of young people in the UK who are in an abusive relationship do not access support and Team V Peckham is out to change this shocking statistic.

They have been working with local schools and support services and running workshops and creative sessions to inform young people about healthy relationships through art and creative media.

The climax of the campaign is going to be a pop-up event in Peckham on the 15th February.

We are going to be displaying the art created by young people at the sessions that we have running throughout the course of the campaign, and we will also be running creative workshops with local support services to raise awareness about healthy relationships and the work which the local support groups are doing.

We really encourage all of you to come down to the event on the 15th February to participate in our creative workshops, speak with local support services and for information on getting involved with Team V or as a volunteer with support groups in London who work with victims of domestic violence.
