SOAS SPIRIT EDITOR ELECTION
Nominations close Sunday!
Nominations to become the new editor in chief of SOAS Spirit Newspaper close sunday the 9th of March 11:59.
The SOAS Spirit is the only student run newspaper on campus and as editor in chief you will have the unique opportunity to represent the voice and views of students to the wider SOAS community. If you are interested in media and think you have what it takes to run the paper for the coming year then this is a once in a lifetime opportunity that you cannot miss.
It has been a fantastic year for the Spirit and the paper has gone from strength to strength. However, the chief Editor Mohammad Tahboub is stepping down in line with the papers constitution which only allows an editor a maximum of 2 years in charge.
It is now time to have its annual election which is OPEN TO ALL SOAS STUDENTS
The position is for the 2014-2015 academic period and therefore will start in May.
As editor you will be required to perform a whole array of managerial duties, such as recruiting writers and organising and maintaining the structure of the paper according to its constitution. You will also be responsible for making sure that the paper runs effectively and is printed and distributed on time and sufficiently. Furthermore Editors need to have the ability to spot a good story and have exceptional communication and teamwork skills so as to convey their message.
Above all, the need to uphold the integrity of the SOAS spirit is needed in ensuring the standard of journalism maintains a commitment to ethical and responsible reporting.
Please note this is not a paid position and requires a lot of dedication and commitment.
